Ready or not...... I'll be a mom before Mother's day!!!

Sorry to the guys that read my blog but it might start to become uncomfortable for you to read as I start talking about breast milk, breastfeeding, boobs, my cervix and other items like that! I've changed the subject material for this blog more than once, it has been a busy few days!

Interesting day yesterday and exciting news....

Around lunch yesterday, I started to have some shooting pains, pain in my back and the constant need to pee! I thought that the baby was moving down and getting in position to make his grand entrance in a few weeks. I figured it was all normal and I went on about my day. Then in the afternoon I noticed blood in my urine so I called the doctor to see if that was normal late in pregnancy. They asked me to come in to be checked asap because that is not normal. When I got to the office they took a urine sample, checked my cervix, and did an ultrasound of the baby and my kidneys. My cervix is sill closed and high, the baby looks great. From the ultrasound they think it is just a bladder infection. They wrote a prescription for antibiotics and I was told to take it easy. I'll see the doctor again next Tuesday.

 Now for the exciting news.......

Due to my high blood pressure and now this infection the doctor has scheduled to induce me on May 11th. So Antonio Felipe should come into this world on May 12. We will check into the hospital May 11th at 10:00pm. They will put a gel on my cervix to start to soften it and help it dilate, then the next morning they will start the pitocin. It is so exciting to know we will be holding our little guy in 15 days!!

 So the interesting day continues....

When Tony got home we went to the grocery store because my plans got interrupted by the impromptu trip to the doctor I didn't have time to go. We picked up food for dinner and my prescription. After we ate dinner and cleaned up my pain got so bad. I tried a heating pad and then a hot shower but nothing was working. I couldn't stand it anymore so we went to the emergency room. After a long wait they finaly saw me and immediately decided to not treat me in the ER but to send me to labor and delivery. When we got to L&D they hooked me up to monitor the baby and my blood pressure which was normal! I was shocked! I was having contraction ever 3 minutes for a long time, then they spaced to every 6 minutes and now they are much more spaced out. They took more urine and found a lot of blood but no infection. I was admitted to the hospital to monitor the baby and control my pain overnight. They preformed an ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder and now think I might have a kidney stone. I threw up all over the triage room from the pain. After the nurses spoke with my OB, I was givin demerol, IV fluids and phenergan through an IV and was placed in a room. Demerol is my best friend right now! I was also given a sleeping pill. I slept well!!!!! We are currently waiting on urology to come and see me to discuss results of the ultrasound. My blood pressure is really low right now, at least low for me so they have lowered my blood pressure medicine dose. If it is not one thing it is another! Hopefully I can go home this afternoon.

One good thing about last night was we got to listen to Antonio's heart beat all night. It was soothing.
I'll keep everyone updated. Text or call if you want more info before the next blog update.

Sorry there is only one picture on this blog post I'll have my maternity pics and some craft projects on the next one.

 Until next time....

Not what I expected....

I have been put on maternity leave!!!!

We had a doctors appointment today with an ultrasound. They took a lot of measurements and looked at Antonio's blood flow and everything is looking good even though I am measuring small. The amount of amniotic fluid was normal and not elevated like last time, BUT my blood pressure was 140/100.  My blood pressure readings have just been high for too long. I think the doctor was hovering around this decision for a few weeks now. I'm feeling fine. He is just taking this precaution so I won't go into labor too early, he asked that I quit working and just take it easy. For those of you that know me well that is not something that I know how to do, but I will do whatever it takes to make sure that Antonio is born healthy. At least he hasn't put me on bed rest YET!

The dose of my blood pressure medicine was doubled and I am going to start going in twice a week to see the doctor and they will continue to monitor the baby with ultrasounds. Next Tuesday I will go in for fetal monitoring to make sure that everything is fine with Antonio. They will also start checking me at that time to see if there is any dilation or progress towards giving birth. Depending on what happens with my blood pressure they may induce me early.

I'm in shock and it hasn't really completely sunk in that I will not be going into the office for a few months. I'm trying not to panic but I'm not even sure what was left on my desk. Luckily, we started to transition my job duties to other people at the beginning of April but I was planning to work at least until my due date! I'm going to go into the office tomorrow for a little bit to clear off my desk and wrap up some things. I will officially start maternity leave on Monday. Technology is amazing and will allow me to do some work from home so I don't go crazy without a baby to take care of and I'm only a phone call away from my coworkers.

On a lighter note, we have family in town again this weekend for our last baby shower! I'm very excited to see everyone and celebrate this guy!!

We have taken a breastfeeding class and did the tour of the hospital. I am very pleased with some changes in policy that were recently made at the hospital. I would still like to take an infant CPR class if I can find one.

I just realized that I'm a little behind on the belly pictures...

We haven't taken 35 weeks, we need to take it soon though, I'll be 36 weeks on Monday!

How about something other than baby news....

Tony has been working on the yard and it looks great!

Until next time...

44 days to go!

There are many ways to say how far along we are with this pregnancy.

In the third trimester..... 34 weeks pregnant....
6 weeks to go...... a month and a half left.... but saying it as 44 days to go really brings into perspective that we are getting close, very close to holding our little boy!!!!

Even with all the baby stuff in the house, my growing belly and feeling him move it is still hard to believe that there will be a third person in our family very soon! One that depends on us for everything! It is really hard to imagine. We are so excited. We have had 8 wonderful years as husband and wife, now we are ready to start this next phase as a family.
